ERCG estimates for 2013 --

  • U.S. total competitively served sales of 762.5 TWh and 18.9 million customers
  • with a residential total of 181.3 TWh and 16.3 million customers
  • with a non-residential total of 581.2 TWh and 2.6 million customers

Mergers and acquisition (M&A) activity --

  • in 2013, there were 16 total M&A deals for retail electricity suppliers
  • in 2014, there were 26 total M&A deals
  • in 2015 so far, there have been 17 M&A deals

The tables below show the 22 U.S. jurisdictions that have restructured retail electricity markets. Rank is based on 2013 competitively supplied sales volume, using the most recently available data from the state utility commission migration reports.
